The Society of Dorset Men
The handsome Society tie is now well established as essential to all Members’ wardrobes. In two versions- navy blue or maroon- with yellow and green stripes, you will certainly be noticed at any Society function [other than the black tie County Dinner] if you are not wearing one! The cost is only £10. A few old style brown ties are still on sale at only £6.
The largest number of Members ever to sit down at a County Dinner, gathered in the giant marquee at the Crown Hotel, Blandford Forum, to welcome the Lord Chief Justice and Lady Phillips.
The culmination of many months of planning by Hayne Russell and Michel Hooper-Immins, who began discussions with Hall & Woodhouse six months before. Director David Hoare and catering expert Alec Howard conspired to organise the superbly balanced menu, expertly served by a team of skilled staff. Thanks to Tess Woodhouse for the super flower arrangements and decorations.
It was truly a super evening to remember for the 310 Members and their wives who were present- more so because it cannot be repeated at Blandford Forum. Click here to see report and photospread
SOCIETY TIES, BADGES AND CUFFLINKS
Committeeman Shaun Cregan is the driving force behind two new acquisitions for the Society. The super metal lapel badge- in red and silver- was launched last year and regularly seen on the jackets and blazers of members throughout the UK. At £1.50, the lapel badge is really a bargain.
Brand new are the striking £4 cufflinks with the Society’s crest embossed. In the photograph above, Shaun models an example and is holding the Society of Dorset Men blazer badge, which has just been reordered at £10.
To complete the story, Shaun has taken over from Peter Ashdown as the Society’s “salesman” and is waiting to hear from you. All prices include UK postage. Make cheques payable to The Society of Dorset Men.
